1. About these terms
Tanko Vault is an online manga discovery, release-tracking and collection service operated by TechManPat in Western Australia, Australia. These Terms & Conditions form an agreement between you and Tanko Vault when you access the site, create an account or use its features.
By using Tanko Vault, and by selecting the acceptance checkbox when signing in or creating an account, you agree to these terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use account-based features.
2. Eligibility and adult content
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you may only use Tanko Vault with permission from a parent or legal guardian. Content classified by Tanko Vault as sexually explicit or R18 is hidden by default and may only be intentionally accessed by adults aged 18 or older.
Age and content labels are provided as general guidance. They may be incomplete or differ from official classifications in your location.
3. What Tanko Vault provides
Tanko Vault helps readers discover manga, view publisher and bibliographic information, publish selected profile and collection information, follow readers, vote on comments, create lists, track personal collections and use AI-assisted cover recognition. Catalogue data may come from publishers, public bibliographic sources, community submissions and automated systems.
Tanko Vault does not sell or publish manga, provide professional advice, guarantee availability, or represent any publisher unless expressly stated. Release dates, covers, credits, ratings, synopses, classifications and AI-generated matches may contain errors, change without notice or be incomplete. You should confirm important information with the relevant publisher or retailer.
4. Accounts and security
You are responsible for providing accurate account information, maintaining the confidentiality of your password and all activity under your account. You must notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission. You may not impersonate another person, create accounts for abuse, bypass usage limits or attempt to access another user’s data.
5. Uploads, profiles, scans and community content
You may submit cover photographs, profile details, public collection information, ratings, comments, votes and catalogue information. You retain ownership of content you own. You give Tanko Vault a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to process, reproduce, format and display that content only as reasonably required to operate, secure, moderate and improve the service. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for copies we must retain by law or that have been incorporated into anonymised or verified catalogue data.
New accounts start with a public reader profile and all supported public sections enabled, as disclosed during signup. You can make the profile private or disable any individual section in Profile settings after signup. Public profile information and comments can be viewed without an account, and blocking cannot prevent a signed-out visitor from viewing information that remains public.
You must have the right to upload the content. Cover scanning is for identifying individual manga volumes, not for uploading full books, internal pages or copyrighted works for distribution. Photographs submitted to the scanner are processed temporarily, sent to our AI service provider for analysis and deleted by Tanko Vault after analysis. Extracted metadata and the match decision may be retained.
6. Prohibited and inappropriate content
You must not upload, post or submit anything that is unlawful, abusive, threatening, defamatory, deceptive, harassing, privacy-invasive, infringing, malicious or unrelated to the purpose of Tanko Vault. This includes child sexual exploitation material; sexualised material involving minors; non-consensual intimate imagery; instructions promoting serious wrongdoing; malware; stolen personal information; and content that infringes copyright, trade marks or other rights.
Do not upload personal documents, faces, addresses, payment information or other sensitive material. Do not use the scanner for pornography, explicit personal imagery or photographs of people.
7. Moderation, suspension and deletion
We may review catalogue submissions, extracted metadata, public profiles, comments, reports, follows, votes and account activity for safety, quality and compliance. We may reject or remove content, invalidate abusive votes, freeze voting, disable social interactions, limit features, suspend an account or permanently terminate an account where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached or action is needed to protect Tanko Vault, its users, rights holders or the public.
Votes express community opinion and do not determine whether content is lawful or acceptable. A negative score does not automatically remove a comment, and vote identities are not publicly displayed.
If you upload inappropriate, illegal, harmful or repeatedly irrelevant material, your account may be deleted without prior notice. Account deletion may permanently remove your profile, vault, collection records, lists, ratings, comments, follows, votes, scan history and related account data. Deleted data may not be recoverable. We may retain limited records where reasonably required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance or dispute resolution.
8. Intellectual property
The Tanko Vault name, branding, design, software, original text and databases are owned by or licensed to Tanko Vault. Manga names, cover artwork, characters and publisher marks belong to their respective rights holders. Their appearance is for identification, commentary and catalogue purposes and does not imply endorsement.
You may use Tanko Vault for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not scrape the service at scale, copy or republish its database, bypass technical controls, reverse engineer protected parts of the service or use Tanko Vault content to build a competing product without written permission.
9. AI and third-party services
AI cover recognition is probabilistic. It can misread a title, volume, edition, language, ISBN or publisher. You must review and confirm the proposed match before relying on it. Tanko Vault is not responsible for a collection error caused by an uncorrected AI suggestion.
Tanko Vault uses third-party hosting, email, AI and analytics providers and may link to publisher, retailer or other external sites. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices. We do not control and are not responsible for their content, availability or conduct.
10. Fees and future paid features
Tanko Vault currently makes the manga vault and cover scanner available without charge, subject to fair-use limits. Some features may become paid in the future. We will display the price, billing period, included usage, renewal and cancellation terms before you are charged. We will not begin charging an existing account merely because it used a free feature.
11. Availability and changes
We may add, change, limit or discontinue features, catalogue sources or usage allowances. We aim to keep Tanko Vault available but do not guarantee uninterrupted, secure or error-free operation. Maintenance, provider outages, data loss and circumstances outside our reasonable control may affect the service.
12. Consumer rights and liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tanko Vault is provided on an “as available” basis. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of opportunity, loss of data, purchasing decisions, missed releases, catalogue errors, third-party conduct or your reliance on community or AI-generated information. Where liability cannot be excluded but can lawfully be limited, our liability is limited to resupplying the affected service or the cost of doing so.
13. Your responsibility
You are responsible for your uploads, comments, account activity and compliance with applicable law. You must reimburse Tanko Vault for reasonable loss or cost directly caused by your unlawful content, deliberate misuse of the service or infringement of another person’s rights, except to the extent the loss was caused by Tanko Vault.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect service, legal or safety changes. We will post the updated version and effective date. For material changes, we may provide an additional notice or require renewed acceptance. Continued use after the effective date means the updated terms apply.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia and the Commonwealth of Australia. You and Tanko Vault submit to the courts having jurisdiction in Western Australia, subject to any rights you have to bring a claim elsewhere under applicable consumer law.
